PTSD
Post-traumatic Stress Disorder(PTSD) occurs when you experience a traumatic event. For example, serious physical injury, unwanted sexual act, death of family/friend, a car or plane crash, being kidnapped and etc. During World War1 it was a very common illness because the soldiers experienced many highly unsafe experiences. Back them because of that it was called, 'soldier's heart'. Before it was called PTSD it was also called, 'battle fatigue', 'shell shock', 'combat fatigue' and etc.

SYMPTOMS
After a traumatic event most people get symptoms for PTSD like, having a bad dream, flashbacks and feeling fearful and numb. These are normal symptoms and it is not exactly PTSD because these symptoms gradually go away in days or few weeks. However for people who really have PTSD these symptoms don't go away. For some PTSD patients they feel worse each day, or they don't get the symptoms until weeks, months, and years has pass since the event. In some cases the symptoms come and go. They also experience emotional deadness, not being able to enjoy the things they used to and they feel that they could die anytime.
