    ...
    It is Holden's favorite hat and he wears it all the time to express his isolation with the society. It is his favorite hat because, like Holden, the hat doesn't match with New York. He says to Ackley,"I shoot people in this hat." to express that he is 'catcher in the rye'. He knows the hunting hat is "corny" and not cool but he still likes it because when he is wearing it he can be himself and be strong. On the other hand, when he's not wearing the red hunting hat it means that he's not being himself and being someone else. At the end of the story when Phoebe puts the hat on Holden, it means that she wants him to be himself and likes him that way.
    -Ducks-
    {http://www.carolinawaterfowlrescue.com/images/call_ducks.jpg}
    Throughout the story, Holden's been wondering where the ducks go in the winter. He is really concerned about the ducks and even debates with the taxi driver about it. Since the ducks go somewhere during the winter and come back in the spring. The ducks represent resurrection to Holden. Holden is worried about them dieing during the winter, and he thinks he's the same with the ducks and that he thinks of dieing

    Holden
    He is the main character in this book, The Catcher in the Rye. He is also the narrator of this book and he is 16 years old. Even though he is only 16, he is a heavy smoker and drinks a lot. He got expelled out of many schools and he was expelled again out of Pency Prep.

    In opposition to the parents thoughts about this book, many teenagers liked it because it was something that they could relate to and understand. Holden was on the path of growing up like any other teenager but in his own way. By reading this book, teenagers were able to understand what different teenagers were going through and feeling.
    Nowadays, there are books like The Cather in the Rye that uses inapporiate languages. However, it was possible because J.D, Salinger published this book.
